South African Photos Of The Endemic Cape Silverside

The Cape Silverside is endemic to Southern Africa and occurs all along our coastline. The pictures below will suggest the Cape Silverside is a small fish specie and it is. The maximum they grow to is a length of 11 centimeters and they reach breeding maturity when they are only 4 centimeters long! The Cape Silverside occurs mainly in the surf zone and in estuaries and upper reaches of saltwater rivers.
