South African Striped (Oriental) Bonito Photographs & Pictures

The Striped Bonito, also known as the Oriental Bonito around the rest of the World, is a strong fighting species of Tuna found from East London all the way up the South African coast line and into Mozambique. It is a great sport fish on light tackle. The Striped Bonito is closely related to the Sarda Sarda. These species of Bonito often occur in large shoals along with other saltwater fish species and will "smash" any lure casted in their direction, as shown in one of the images below, a Striped Bonito fell for a Halco Laser Pro while trolling through a school.
